Art Direction Masterclass

The University of Lincoln Creative Advertising course had the great pleasure of having renowned Art Director, Alex Taylor visit us last week.

Alex has an international reputation for her work and has been recognised at advertising awards many times over during her career, so the level three students were very lucky to have such a high profile industry figure deliver a masterclass in Art Direction.

Here's what level three Creative Advertising student, Will Maxey thought of the experience.

"The workshop started a few days before with a brief set by Alex in advance. It was a pretty nerve-racking thing to do considering it was our first encounter with somebody as respected as Alex Taylor. It was great to have a day wholly focused on Art Direction - its something you don't get to do that often as a student creative, so it was a relief to have a day free from strategic thinking to concentrate on the 'craft'.

As if having one of THE greatest art directors of our time teaching us wasn't enough, Alex also showed DVDs of interviews of other top advertising art directors each providing their own opinions and thoughts on art direction.

The whole day was crammed full of inspiration, motivation and tips on how to become great, and no matter what she said to try and put us off, it only seemed to make us more determined!"
